A subcontractor who worked at the Rydges Hotel on Swanston in Melbourne during the coronavirus crisis has told Sky News host Peta Credlin the hotel quarantine program was in chaos from the start. Andrew McClean said it only took him – upon entering the hotel – about five minutes to recognise cracks in the quarantine program. “It was red hot,” he said. Mr McClean’s recollection of the system reflected evidence given to the hotel quarantine inquiry – that it was filled with overlapping responsibilities and there were unclear lines of reporting. Rydges was ground zero for Melbourne’s deadly second wave of the virus, with 90 per cent of current infections sourced to the hotel. ‘Deadly Decisions: Victoria’s Hotel Quarantine Catastrophe’ premieres this Sunday at 8pm on Sky News on Foxtel, Sky News on WIN or listen live on Sky News Radio on iHeartRadio. The program will also be available on demand on SkyNews.com.au.
